Q. Where does Salumeria Italiana ship?
A. To any address in the United States, including Hawaii. We ship via UPS, which requires a street address.

Q. How soon will my order be shipped?
A. We pride ourselves on filling and shipping orders within a day or so. If your order includes perishables (cured meats, cheeses, olives), the orders go out Monday-Wednesday so that perishables do not linger in shipping over the weekend. Orders for perishables received after 2 p.m. Wednesday will go out the following Monday because we do not want perishables sitting in a UPS warehouse over the weekend. If you need the order sooner, you can specify Next Day or Saturday delivery for an added cost.

Q. How are cured meats, cheeses, and olives shipped?
A. All perishables are shipped 2nd day air, depending on distance, are vacuum-packed, and protected with cold packs and thermal envelopes.

Q. Can I be sure the products I buy will be fresh?
A. Most of our oils and other products imported from Italy, France, and Spain, including pasta and even Nutella, bear an easy-to-read expiration date. We buy limited quantities from reliable distributors and have rapid turnover, further guaranteeing freshness and quality. Meats and cheeses are sliced or cut the day they are to be shipped. Olives are packed that day also. All orders are packed the day they are to be shipped.

Q. How are shipping costs calculated?
A. Shipping costs are calculated by weight, size, and distance. If you are ordering heavy nonperishables, such as a case of olive oil, and perishables such as meats and cheeses and shipment is out of New England, it may be cheaper to separate the orders. Then the nonperishables can go at the cheaper ground rate, and the perishables by 2nd day air. 

Q. Is there more than one Salumeria Italiana retail store?
A. The original Salumeria Italiana on Richmond Street in Boston's North End is still the one and only.

Q. Do you sell gift baskets? Gift certificates on line?
A.  We do not sell baskets, but do feature gift selections for Father's Day and other holidays. Gift certificates are sold only in the store. We are working on the details of online certificates at this time.
